One Less Thing for Our Family to Carry - Danielle S.
My name is Danielle Sullivan, and my family is currently living through one of the scariest times of our lives. My 37-year-old sister, Cacharel, is critically ill at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after suffering an aortic dissection and an aneurysm in her aortic arch. She has Marfan syndrome and is facing major open heart surgery. She is also a mom to two girls, ages 14 and 13, who need their mom home. Our family is from New Jersey. When we learned how serious Cacharel's condition was, we dropped everything and came to North Carolina to be beside her. I originally had a flight home, but I canceled it because I couldn't leave my sister. We have no idea how long this journey will be. As the days passed, transportation became another problem we had to figure out. I initially rented a car, but the cost of keeping a rental indefinitely was quickly becoming another financial burden during an already overwhelming time. So I decided to take a chance. I started calling dealerships in Winston-Salem, explaining what was happening to my sister and asking if anyone might be willing to help our family with temporary transportation. I knew it was an unusual request, and honestly, I expected to hear no. Then I called Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem. They listened. I told them about Cacharel. I told them why I was in North Carolina. I told them I didn't know when I would be able to go home. And instead of simply telling me there was nothing they could do, they took the time to see if there was a way they could help. They found one. Flow Subaru offered me a loaner vehicle for only $25 a day while I remain here supporting my sister. To someone else, that may sound like a car. To me, it is so much more. It means I can get to the hospital to sit beside my sister. It means I can help my nieces and my family. It means I can get groceries, handle errands and do all of the little things that still have to happen even when your entire world feels like it has stopped. Most importantly, it is one less thing for our family to carry. Throughout this experience, I have been telling my sister that I will flip the world upside down if that's what it takes to bring her home. What I never expected was how many complete strangers would start helping me flip it. Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem became one of those people. I am incredibly grateful to RJ Currey and the team at Flow Subaru for listening to our story and choosing compassion. They didn't know my family. They didn't owe us anything. They simply saw a family going through something incredibly difficult and asked themselves what they could do to make it a little easier. That kindness matters more than I can put into words. When people talk about community, I think this is what they mean. It isn't always a huge gesture. Sometimes it is recognizing that someone is carrying too much and saying, "Let us carry this one thing for you." Thank you, RJ. Thank you, Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem. And thank you to everyone who chooses to show up for families like mine when they need it most. We still have a long road ahead of us, but today that road feels a little easier to travel. We're bringing Cacharel home. ❤️
Flow Subaru of WS Delivers School Supplies - Char H - Charmaine H.
On behalf of the 5th grade teachers and students at MSES, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for the incredible box of classroom supplies! Your generous donation through the Subaru Loves Learning initiative provides our students with the essential classroom supplies much needed. We are so grateful for your continued partnership and investment in the Bulldogs community.
Flow Subaru & Blood Cancer United at Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Institute - Caren H.
On June 18, I had the privilege of joining Flow Subaru and the team at Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Institute for a meaningful day of service through the Subaru Loves to Care® initiative. It was inspiring to see our community come together with one shared purpose - to bring comfort, hope, and encouragement to individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Together, Flow Subaru and Blood Cancer United delivered 80 warm blankets and 30 patient care kits - some in heart shaped pillows - to the cancer institute. The partnership also provided $2,500 in urgent-needs assistance for five patient households, helping ease some of the financial challenges that often accompany a cancer diagnosis. While these gifts may seem simple, they have a meaningful impact. Cancer treatment can leave patients feeling cold and physically uncomfortable, making a warm blanket a welcome source of comfort. The care kits and handwritten messages of hope serve as reminders that they are not facing their journey alone - that an entire community is standing beside them, cheering them on every step of the way. Subaru retailers have partnered with Blood Cancer United, formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative since 2016. I was proud to see Flow Subaru continue its local commitment to patients at Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Institute, marking at least the second consecutive year of support for the cancer institute. A heartfelt thank you to the Flow Subaru team—Scott Hooker, General Manager; RJ Currey, Sales Manager; Hanna Wood and Dereon Campbell, Interns; and Santiago Robledo-Salazar, Marketing Account Manager - for investing their time and compassion in this effort. I also want to thank Stacy Sawyers and the outstanding team at Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Institute for welcoming us and for the exceptional care they provide to patients and families every day. At Blood Cancer United, we are incredibly grateful to partner with the Subaru Love Promise® and dedicated retailers like Flow Subaru in our mission to cure blood cancers and improve the lives of patients and their families. Seeing these partnerships in action is a powerful reminder that when businesses, healthcare providers, and nonprofits work together, we can make a lasting difference - not only through research and treatment, but through moments of kindness that bring comfort and hope when they are needed most.
A small tree, a meaningful start - Steven L.
I'm so glad I stopped by the event at Flow Subaru of Winston Salem. It was a great opportunity to connect with the community and take home something that will continue to grow for years to come. I chose a river birch, and I'm looking forward to planting it and watching it become part of my home. The earth gives us so much every day, and it feels good to give something back, even in a small way. This tree is more than just a plant. It's a reminder to appreciate the world around us and to do our part to care for it. Thank you to the Subaru team for making the event meaningful and giving me the chance to take home something special.

Flow Subaru of WS Helps Feed Kids! - Scott B.
Hi Everyone - this is Scott Best, Executive Director of H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem. I want to send out a HUGE Thank You to the team at Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem for selecting our organization as a partner for the Share the Love event. Funds were raised to support our operations that are focused on providing nutritious meals and fresh fruits and vegetables to kids and families in need. The funds awarded to our organization will help provide for over 9,000 meals for children struggling with food insecurity. This is an amazing boost to our operations and will help hundreds of kids right here in Winston-Salem. Thank you so much!!
Coats, Community, and Care at The Shalom Project - Eric H.
I had the chance to be part of a really special day with Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem at The Shalom Project. What stood out to me the most was seeing how many families showed up and how much this meant to them. We were able to give out coats for kids of all ages—from as young as 3 all the way up to adult sizes like XXL—which made a huge difference as the weather gets colder. It wasn't just about the coats either. There were snacks, conversations, and a real sense of community. You could see the relief and appreciation on people's faces, and that's something that sticks with you. Moments like this remind me how important it is to come together and support one another. I'm grateful to have been part of it.
Celebrating Learning with Subaru Loves to Learn at Winston-Salem - Santiago R.
My very first event with Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem couldn’t have been more meaningful—or more fun! As part of Subaru’s “Loves to Learn” initiative, we joined an incredible evening where nearly 80 teachers came together for dinner and community. The highlight of the night was getting to hand out 10 Subaru Loves Learning Kits to the school. Seeing the smiles, excitement, and gratitude from the teachers reminded me why I’m so proud to be part of a company that believes giving back to education is just as important as selling cars. These kits are more than boxes—they’re filled with classroom materials, inspiration, and the message that teachers matter. Watching the teachers light up as they opened them was a moment I’ll never forget. It was such a joy to celebrate the start of the school year surrounded by passionate educators and to represent Flow Subaru in supporting a cause that shapes the future of our community. Subaru truly lives by its Love Promise—and being part of that mission made this first event an unforgettable experience. Santiago Robledo
MSES Flexible Seating and Literacy - Mariah F.
The 5th grade team at Mineral Springs Elementary School thanks Subaru for their sponsorship. Our school is a Title I school in Winston-Salem serving many underrepresented and underserved children. However our students are eager to learn and desire comfortable places to do so. With these monetary donations we were able to purchase flexible seating and a class set of Kwame Alexander's " Crossover". The flexible seating allows students to stay seated comfortably while giving them the ability to get out excess energy during class. The class set of Crossover gives students access to a culturally relevant book that addresses challenges in today's society. The 5th grade team as MSES sincerely appreciates this partnership.
Flow Subaru Teams Up to Support Local Community - Nate R.
Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Winston-Salem, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Flow Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Flow Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/15/2025, Flow Subaru donated 300 coats to The Shalom Project. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

Dear Flow Subaru Team, We just wanted to take a moment to say a big thank you to all of you at Flow Subaru in Winston-Salem, NC. Your kindness and care for our planet truly mean a lot to us. You always go above and beyond—this time by donating around 300 reusable water bottles for our students! The kids absolutely loved them, and it’s such a great way to help protect our Earth. Growing a Greener Community - Georgette H.
At Flow Subaru of Winston Salem, we do more than sell cars. We’re also deeply committed to serving our community both now and for future generations to come. This was our first year partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation, as part of the Subaru Loves the Earth initiative, whose mission is to distribute 100,000 trees to communities across the country. We were honored to play a small role in this by giving out one hundred trees to our Subaru customers. Customers were able to reserve their trees in advance, choosing between four different young native trees, and everyone was so excited to receive their trees on pickup day! Thank you to all our customers who came out and participated and have planted their trees for a greener and healthier community!
2024 Christmas Kennel Campaign - Maria W.
This year was my fifth annual Christmas Kennel Campaign. Each year I campaign to get 200 stockings sponsored for the Forsyth County Animal Shelter and Forsyth County Humane Society. This year was also the third year that Flow Subaru of Winston Salem has provided the vehicle for me to stack 200 stockings in a use as Santa’s Sleigh to deliver to both locations. Brian and Steven were awesome at making sure the vehicle is ready to go and have always been very accommodating. It is a pleasure to have this partnership with Flow Subaru and I hope to continue for years to come.
Thank you from 2nd grade at Mineral Springs! - Peyton R.
Our students received new white boards with the donation from Flow Subaru. We use them every single day for instruction across multiple subject areas. The boards are wonderful because they are double sided- they have one side that is blank and another side that has primary lines. The lines are so important for students to be neat and precise with their handwriting and it makes modeling for them so much easier. Their handwriting has significantly improved since we received these boards. The students are able to show their work in multiple ways and so enjoy using them. We are so grateful to Flow Subaru for their generous donation and for their support of our school community. Thank you!
Subaru Loves Learning at MSES - Angie Q.
For the last few years, the staff and students at Mineral Springs Elementary have had the privilege of having Flow Subaru as an amazing community partner. Each year they step up with donations for every grade level and give us bonus supply boxes filled with classroom supplies. This year third grade used our $500 to purchase copy paper, Sharpies, pawprint bracelets for our students, magnetic graph charts, and colorful sentence strips. We are truly blessed to have the support of Subaru!
Mineral Springs Elementary School - Erin H.
The Kindergarten team is so grateful for the opportunity to receive supplies to support our classroom community from Flow Subaru! We deeply invest in our students, and the monies went directly to tools to enhance student learning. From learning toys to a classroom printer and laminator, the monies helped each of our 5 classroom teachers to grow areas of their classroom learning centers. At the heart of our learning centers is a dedication to student growth and achievement, and we thank you for contributing to that and encouraging us as teachers!
Flow Subaru Brings Hope to Mineral Springs Elementary School. - Lucy G.
At Mineral Springs Elementary, a Title I school in a low-income area, we are constantly striving to provide the best education for our students, despite financial challenges. That’s why the support from Flow Subaru has meant so much to us. Through their Subaru Loves Learning program, Flow Subaru generously donated $3,000 to our school. Each grade level received $500, allowing teachers to purchase much-needed classroom materials to enhance learning for our students. It was an unexpected gift that made a big difference in our daily work. But they didn’t stop there. In a show of support for our staff, Flow Subaru also provided a delicious breakfast for all our teachers and staff. It was a moment where we felt truly appreciated and reminded that there are people in our community who care deeply about education and our students' future. Their generosity has touched our hearts and lifted our spirits. Flow Subaru has become a cherished partner in our mission to educate and support the next generation, and for that, we are incredibly grateful. Their kindness has shown our students and staff that we are not alone on this journey. Thank you, Flow Subaru, for believing in our school and helping us continue to build brighter futures.

Love Literacy works to ensure that all children find their best future through the benefits of literacy. Thanks to the support of Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem and other generous community members and organizations, we were able to provide free volunteer reading tutors to 100 students who needed extra support with reading during the 2023-2024 school year. MY EARTH DAY FAIR EXPERIANCE - Marcus H.
My experience with Flow Subaru at this year's Earth Day Fair event was amazing! It was a pleasure to share the knowledge of our new 2024 Subaru Solterra as well! Very friendly environment, great food and also a wonderful sight to see so many different faces there also! It gave Flow Subaru along with other great companies the opportunity to share the love for the brand! A lot of people were extremely surprised and pleased with Subaru's work regarding the Solterra! Not every day that you get to be a part of something like this. Props to Flow Subaru! I would definitely do it all over again!
Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem made our charity bike ride a huge success! - Spencer A.
The Shalom Project is so grateful to the support of Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem with our Ride for Shalom event! The Shalom Project serves vulnerable and marginalized folks in Winston-Salem and beyond with a spirit of inclusion and compassion through our weekly Food Pantry, Clothing Closet, free Medical Clinic & Pharmacy, and our Flourish Program, which supports women with low income as they achieve financial self-sufficiency. Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem served as our Champion Sponsor for our spring charity ride, helping fund the event, staff aid stations along the ride, bring energy to the event, and, ultimately, raise over $16,000 for our organization. Thank you to Flow Subaru for their generous support of our work and our community!
A Heartfelt Thank You from Mineral Springs Elementary School - Lucy G.
On behalf of Mineral Springs Elementary School, I wanted to extend our deepest gratitude for your incredible support during our recent Multicultural event. Your generosity truly made a difference in our school and community. The donation of various countries' flags added a vibrant touch to our event, showcasing the beautiful diversity within our school. Moreover, your contribution also served as a way to protect our planet, which is a cause close to our hearts. We want to especially thank you for the generous donation of 5-gallon jugs of Le Bleu water and 240 plastic bottles for our students. This initiative not only provided essential hydration but also helped in our efforts to reduce plastic waste. By providing reusable water bottles, Subaru has helped us keep at least 240 plastic bottles out of the recycling program or landfill, contributing to a greener future for all. Attached is a photo from Ms. Chaves' classroom taken the day after the event, where her students can be seen proudly using their Subaru water bottles. Your support has not only made a tangible impact on our school but has also brought smiles to the faces of our students. Once again, thank you for your unwavering support. Flow Subaru's commitment to saving the planet aligns perfectly with our values at Mineral Springs Elementary School, and we are honored to have you as a partner in our journey.
Spreading Warmth: Flow Subaru's Love to Help Initiative with the Shalom Project - Dajanae B.
At Flow Subaru of Winston Salem, we're not just about selling cars; we're about spreading love and kindness throughout our community. That's why we're proud to share our latest Love Promise story, highlighting our partnership with the Shalom Project for the Subaru Love to Help initiative. As part of this program, we joined forces with the Shalom Project to distribute winter coats to children in need within our community. With temperatures dropping, we knew it was essential to ensure that every child could stay warm during the colder months. Through the dedication and generosity of our team and the Shalom Project, we were able to provide warmth and comfort to countless children, spreading love and hope throughout our community. This heartwarming initiative exemplifies our commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around us, embodying the spirit of Subaru's Love Promise Community Commitment. Thank you to everyone who helped make this initiative a success. Together, we're making a difference, one act of kindness at a time.
Luna Needed a Friend and Didn't Know It - Janis M.
At the Humane Society of Davie County, we love Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem, NC. They are a great partner of our organization always checking in with us and seeing if they can do anything for us and who we have up for adoption, not just during the Subaru Loves Pets month but all year long. We know we can count on them to share our adoptable pets and invite us to do events at their dealership or just stop by with an adoptable animal anytime. They bring attention to our adoptable animals and awareness of our mission on their social media and in their dealership. We have been partners for several years now and hope to continue in the future. It’s been a rough year for us with many sick/injured dogs and cats to care for. With costs on the rise and many people not being able to afford to keep their animals, we have been overwhelmed with intake requests and are never able to help them all. Our donations are at an all-time low and with HSDC being such a small organization, we depend on every penny so during the Subaru Loves Pets month, Subaru donating $100 for every pet adopted was a game changer for us and we are so appreciative! One dog’s adoption story I would like to share with you is a dog who came to our adoption event at Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem. Her name is Luna and this was her first adoption event. She was seen by a social media post from the event and her adopter saw that she was friendly with all the visitors at the event and even another dog we brought named Roscoe. Her new mom was looking for a dog friend for her other dog, Bella. Luna suffered from bad separation anxiety and low and behold so did Bella. Bella had lost her pal and needed a new friend. At first Luna was very jealous of Bella and wanted her new human all to herself but with time and patience, her new human worked through all her quirks and now Luna and Bella are best friends. It was a long road, but Luna just needed a friend (and human) to give her time to settle in.
Did Flow Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
